Thank you to Food for Kings community market for your warm welcome to Shetland Oatcakes.
I enjoyed speaking with visitors to the market, which happens on the third Saturday each month, 9am – 12.30pm on the Village Garden, Church Lane, Kings Langley, WD4 8JS. I sold out of all oatcakes, butter, coconut / vegan and chilli. Many of the people who tried the samples (see the photo below), then bought one or more packs.

People are increasingly knowledgeable on many things about Shetland, as many have watched the Shetland detective series, along with Island Medic and various other television programmes about nature and birdlife.
More oatcakes please!
One woman turned up at my stall, having been requested by her husband and daughter to go – like a modern day hunter – and see if she could buy more packs of oatcakes. The husband and daughter were at their home in Kings Langley demolishing the oatcakes they’d bought earlier.

I’ll be back at Food for Kings next month on Saturday 18th April, from 9am – with double the amount of packs this time. I’ll be bringing the mini sample oatcakes again, so that people can try before they buy.
Here’s the Food for Kings Facebook page.
